History
The Rural Tourism and Agrotourism Federation of Lleida was established in 1994 with the rural tourism associations of Alt Urgell, Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Jussà, Pallars Sobirà and Val d’Aran. Nowadays, even the associations of Urgell, Les Garrigues and La Noguera are part of it.
Actions
The need to group, to become a single voice, allowed us to undertake promotional activities together and to serve as a mediator between the interests and needs of rural tourism owners and the administration.
The Federation has participated in both the definition of different updates of the regulations of the rural tourism sector and the categorization of establishments in wheat spikes to define standards of quality and services.
Challenge
Apart from this legislative aspect, the real challenges of rural tourism since its inception have been, basically:
- • being able to set the population in territories punished by increasing depopulation
• the challenge of being an environmentally friendly, sustainable and inclusive tourism
• the constant adaptation of the facilities to the evolution of the demand, maintaining its character of authenticity
